The following charts, from the book The Dental Microscope by Drs Schmidt and Boudro, references 2 studies. The first chart shows the results of a survey by University of British Columbia of more than 420 dentists. (70% were in their 30's.) Nearly 90% of respondents attributed their symptoms in part to their dental occupation.

The second chart shows the results of a survey by University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry. Among students whose average age of 26.3 years is revealing. As seen, 71% reported work-related pain. The conclusion? Work-related pain is not confined to those "getting on in years."
